"Greece U-17 (players born in 1989) lost 1-0 to Cyprus in the second friendly between them, which took place in Limassol yesterday. In the first friendly, played on Monday 16 May, Greece won 2-0 (Kaliampakas, Kaltsas).

Greece line-up: Lampropoulos, Kokkolakis, Maragos, Feredinos, Xianos (41΄ Ballis), Kaltsas, Iordanidis (41΄ Kaminiotis), Lazaridis (41΄ Aslanidis), Boutzikos (41΄ Salapatas), Papadopoulos (41΄ Kissas), Kaliampakas (41΄ Katsifas)

Coach Semertzidis made the following statement after the end of the match: «At this point we are choosing the players for the new U-17 National Team and there΄s a lot to be done. However, time is limited since we play for the 1st qualifying round of the European Championship in September against Slovakia, Bosnia/Herzegovina and Finland. The matches against Cyprus were the first demanding tests for these players and, on the whole, I am satisfied.»"

Nick says: "I was very honoured to receive a call from Greece U17 National team. The coach Mr. George Semertzides called 33 players for trials. We stayed in Kilkis from Saturday 7th May until Wednesday 11th May 2005. Then 20 of us were selected (and I was one of them) to go to Cyprus, from Sunday 15th May up to Wednesday 18th May 2005, where we had training sessions and played also against the Cyprus U17 National team twice. It was a unique experience for me, which I've enjoyed it very much and I really do hope to have more similar chances in the near future".
